galactic wash
trying to convince my disbelieving wife that “galactic wash” jeans existed as a (misguided) fashion statement in 1986-87, i searched google for “galactic wash” (quoted string). get this: 3 hits. that’s it. i’m shocked.
this was a product made by levi’s. during the jr. high “acid wash” jeans phase, levi’s tried to extend their success, but only succeeded in punishing a couple kids who’s parents shopped for school clothes without them. these were dark denim jeans with little bright white bleach dots (they had to have used dry chlorine to get that effect) scattered throughout.
acid wash jeans quickly became lackluster in the face of the ultracool hypercolor clothes (aka. “that girl with the pink shirt and bright blue armpits”).
anyway, the most clear proof is some (circa 1987) “anarchy text” at http://nightmare.org/.
disappointing. maybe it was just an “idaho thing.”

I remember Galactic Wash jeans. I had a pair with a matching jean jacket. What was cool about them was that the dye technique used made everything look like the evening sky with stars on them. Alas, that fad didn’t stay long. But, I’m sure if Levi’s did it again, it would be back in style.
Not only were they real I still have 3 pairs. 2 new and 1 used. Size 34 X 32 and they will be posted on eBay 12/30/09.
i to just found some 1987 galactic wash 501 mens jeans, but i cant find a trace on the internet and if i want to sell them how much should i sell them for.

It is true! I have two of them, one blue and one black and bought them on a trip in the USA aroung 1987. I just put one on sale on ricardo.ch. Size 36/34. These are absolute rarities.
